THE SEA BROTHERS
BY GER CLANCY, JOANNA CRAWLEY & LEE WILSON
BASED ON A PADRAIC COLUM'S STORY
"THE TWO YOUTHS WHOSE FATHER WAS UNDER THE SEA"
To develop a script, music, movement and design elements for a highly visual original Irsh musical for teenage audience. To collaborate with experts and exciting artists. The Sea Brothers, based on Padraic Colum’s folk tale, will be an adventure-driven journey into accepting parents’ imperfections.
Teenagers are deeply under-served as an audience group. This project aims to fill this gap with a show that not only gives Irish mythology a fresh, new edge, but also offers a mix of genres and a visual, physical, collaborative quality unprecedented in Irish theatre for children.
The personnel involved have proven their commitment to young people’s theatre and their competency.
Ger Clancy has created sets for some best children shows of last years like BAKE! and Me Too!
Joanna Crawley is a translator of children plays into Polish, she’s honoured with ASSITEJ Award for Excellence in Children Theatre Criticism and is currently completing her PhD on political theatre for children
